Three years ago this month we landed at Incheon for thirteen days in Seoul, and the first thing Korea did was rain on us. The second thing it did was demand data. Google Maps does not give turn-by-turn directions in Korea, so from the first hour you are living in Naver Map, KakaoMap, and Papago, and all three want a connection. We ran the whole trip on a Holafly South Korea eSIM, and our code ADAMANDLINDS still works in 2026, taking 5% off destination eSIMs like this one and 10% off the monthly Plans.

Holafly South Korea eSIM

Unlimited data on SK Telecom and LG U+, with a 1GB daily hotspot.

Use code ADAMANDLINDS to save 5-10%: 5% off your Korea eSIM, 10% off monthly Plans.

What the Korea eSIM gets you

The short version

  • Unlimited data on SK Telecom and LG U+, Korea's two strongest networks
  • 1GB per day of hotspot sharing, so a 7-day plan carries 7GB of shareable data
  • Always On included: 1GB of free backup data every month, even after your plan ends
  • QR code by email in minutes, installed before you fly

* Unlimited data is subject to the operator's fair usage policy.

The hotspot allowance doubled since we first wrote this guide. It used to be 500MB a day and is now 1GB a day, which matters in a country where your kids' devices have no SIM of their own and the KTX ride to Busan is three hours long. The eSIM is data only, so your home SIM stays in the second slot receiving bank codes for free. We covered how that works in do you keep your phone number with Holafly, and everything else we publish about Holafly, including whatever deal is running this month, lives on our Holafly page.

Current pricing, checked July 2026

Holafly prices Korea by trip length, not by gigabyte, and the per-day rate falls as trips get longer. These were the prices when we checked this month, with the 5% code applied. Holafly runs sales often, so treat these as the ceiling.

Duration Price With ADAMANDLINDS Per day
1 day $6.90 $6.56 $6.56
7 days $27.50 $26.13 $3.73
15 days $50.50 $47.98 $3.20
30 days $73.90 $70.21 $2.34

You can pick any length from 1 to 90 days on the Korea eSIM page, so a ten-day trip pays for ten days, not a fourteen-day bracket.

How it held up over thirteen days in Seoul

We arrived in July 2023, at the front end of Korea's summer rain. Our first night in Myeongdong the sky opened and we sprinted into the nearest restaurant with all three kids, dripping, and pointed at what the next table had. It turned out to be one of the best meals of the trip, a divided iron pan of kimchi stir-fry with a milder half for the girls, and we found it because the eSIM was already working and Naver Map got us back to the apartment afterward.

Our first meal in Korea, found by running out of the rain and into the nearest door. Myeongdong, July 2023.

The rest of the trip was the data-heavy routine Korea forces on you. Naver Map for every walk, Papago pointed at every menu, KakaoTalk because that is what everyone in Korea uses, and the hotspot keeping three kids' devices alive on train rides. Speeds sat on 4G and 5G the whole time in Seoul, including underground on the metro, which is faster and easier to figure out than Tokyo's.

Evenings belonged to Myeongdong's street food, which the girls treated as a competitive sport. Fresh fruit cups for 5,000 won, tornado potatoes taller than Harper, croffles, and dumplings off a griddle. Every stall takes card, but finding the good ones is another job for the eSIM. We put our full activity list in our Seoul things-to-do guide.

Install the eSIM on home Wi-Fi before you fly and leave it switched off. Turn it on when you land at Incheon and it connects while you are still walking to immigration. Keep data roaming off on your home SIM so it cannot rack up charges.

How to install it

  1. Buy your plan

Pick your trip length on the Korea eSIM page and enter ADAMANDLINDS at checkout for 5% off.

  2. Scan the QR code

It arrives by email within minutes. Install it on home Wi-Fi under Settings, then Cellular, then Add eSIM.

  3. Turn it on when you land

Enable the eSIM line and switch data roaming on for it. The plan starts when it first connects in Korea.

Holafly vs a local Korean SIM

Feature Holafly eSIM Local SIM card
Setup 5 minutes at home Airport counter queue
Passport registration Not required Required
Data Unlimited Fixed packages
Home number Stays active SIM comes out

Local SIMs in Korea are decent value if you are comfortable with the passport registration and the airport queue after a long flight. With three tired kids and a luggage cart, we are not, and we have not regretted the eSIM once. Our warts-and-all take on the service overall is in our Holafly review.

Staying longer than a month

Past 30 days, Holafly's monthly Plans beat stacking destination eSIMs. One eSIM covers 160+ destinations including Korea, the fee is fixed, hotspot is included, and our code takes 10% off Plans instead of 5%. Unlimited Plans now even include a US, UK, or Canada phone number for receiving SMS, which solves the verification-code problem for long-term travelers.

Searching in Korean

If you found this page from a Korean search, the code works the same way: Holafly 할인 코드 is the discount code, 쿠폰 is the coupon, and ADAMANDLINDS goes in the discount field at checkout for 5% off (할인율 5%). We keep a full guide to coupon-code vocabulary in how to say coupon code around the world.

FAQ

Holafly South Korea questions

Does Holafly work well in South Korea?

Yes. It runs on SK Telecom and LG U+, and we held 4G and 5G across thirteen days in Seoul including the metro. Coverage thins out in remote mountain areas, and unlimited data carries a fair usage policy that can slow exceptional usage temporarily.

How much hotspot data do I get?

1GB per day of sharing, pooled across your plan length, so a 7-day plan carries 7GB of shareable data. That is double the old 500MB allowance.

Does ADAMANDLINDS work on every Korea plan?

Yes, 5% off any Korea eSIM length from 1 to 90 days, and it works on repeat purchases. On the monthly Plans the same code takes 10% off instead.

Why do I need so much data in Korea?

Google Maps cannot give turn-by-turn directions in Korea, so you run Naver Map or KakaoMap constantly, plus Papago for translation and KakaoTalk for messaging. Korea is one of the most data-hungry countries we have traveled, which is exactly where unlimited earns its keep.

Does it work on Jeju Island?

Yes, coverage extends across Jeju with strong performance in towns and tourist areas. Remote hiking trails on Hallasan can drop signal, as they do for local SIMs too.

Can I extend my plan while in Korea?

Yes, you can buy more days through the Holafly app or the Holafly Center on their site, and it activates on the eSIM you already have installed. Even after your plan ends, Always On keeps giving you 1GB of free backup data each month.
